LogiTrans was founded in 2003 by Captain Andreas Stamatakis and Sofia Karaviti in a single ground-floor office on Akti Miaouli, four hundred metres from the Piraeus container terminal. Andreas had spent eighteen years at sea as Chief Officer on Greek-flagged dry-bulk vessels — the last four with a major Piraeus owner — and had grown tired of being away from his two daughters. Sofia, his cousin's wife, had just finished a logistics MBA at Erasmus Rotterdam and had spent three years on the operations desk of a Dutch forwarder in the Botlek. They put thirty thousand euros each on the table, hired one ex-customs officer, leased a desk for a part-time accountant, and made their first booking in March 2003 — twelve LCL pallets of olive oil from Kalamata to Toronto for a Greek-Canadian impo
